Accessing Patient Information
The EMR Program’s Practice Advisors will work with you to obtain the following digital health services and will provide ongoing training and support.
eLabs
Enabling electronic labs allows providers to receive patient lab results directly into the EMR. These lab results immediately form part of the patient chart and the information contained in the results are available to be “pulled” into forms, letters, notes etc. This technology prevents physicians from having to input the lab results in multiple locations.
Chronic Disease Management- Quality Improvement Program
The Chronic Disease Management Quality Improvement Program (CDM-QIP) was developed by a group of physicians to promote best practices in the management of specific chronic illnesses. Currently, the CDM-QIP program includes four conditions: diabetes (DM), coronary artery disease (CAD), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and heart failure (HF). To ensure best practices are being followed, the CDM-QIP Program includes worksheets for each condition that include indicators of best practice to be completed throughout the course of the year. These worksheets are available in the EMR and the data from the worksheet can be “exported” to eHealth. This information is then made available in the eHR Viewer where physicians can access patient information.
Integrated eHR Viewer
Integrating the eHR Viewer within your EMR allows you to access patient information collected by other healthcare providers such as lab results, medical information, immunization information, transcribed clinical documents, medical imaging and reports, hospital visits and chronic disease information. The eHR Viewer enhances patient care by providing a provincial view of patient information. The information contained in the eHR Viewer can also reduce the need to duplicate testing and can result in fewer administrative tasks. Having the eHR Viewer integrated into your EMR allows you to do all of this within the patient chart without having to sign in to a separate system.
PIP (Pharmaceutical Information Program)
The Pharmaceutical Information Program, (PIP) is an electronic database that contains information about a patient’s prescribed and dispensed medications. PIP is used by authorized health-care providers in their treatment and decision-making process. PIP adds to the quality, safety and management of health care in Saskatchewan.
The PIP to Accuro EMR integration solution allows view-only access of PIP information directly in your Accuro EMR. With a click of a button you are able to access PIP from your patient chart without logging into a separate system.
**Please note: The integrated PIP account is not available in the Med Access EMR.**
