Virtual Care (VC)
A variety of virtual care options are available for physicians and clinicians who cannot be present to provide care in person. You will want to choose tools that work well for you and your patient on a secure platform.
Virtual care may be provided by telephone, email, secure messaging and video.

The CMA has written a virtual care playbook and made it available to all Canadian physicians. The purpose of the playbook is to introduce virtual patient encounters (telemedicine) into their daily practices. It is intended to be a virtual care platform and vendor agnostic. It focuses on video visits, though phone calls and patient messaging are also categorized as virtual care. While not exhaustive, the playbook covers all key considerations to succeed at providing safe, effective and efficient care.
